Guard ™We would like to inform you of the issuance of USA Patent # 7,252,221
B1. This invention makes many new mailbox designs and material
usages possible. |
This invention protects mailbox doors, hinges, floors, bodies, and sidewall
edges from damages. This is accomplished by controlling the impact
forces resulting from the mass of a free swinging door's impacting against
other key parts of the mailbox. The greater the mass of the door,
the more advantage this device provides. This device limits forces,
redirects forces away from vulnerable line and point contact areas on
key components, then transfers and dissipates the forces to the sidewalls
of the mailbox without consequence. With this device key mailbox components
of various designs and materials are far less likely to break, crack,
shatter, or simply fallen apart from use.
This device enables manufacturers to fully comply with the preferences
for door closure stated in USPS -STD-7B 3.4 Carrier Service Door requirements.
"The door must rotate a minimum of 100 degrees when open
and it is preferred that the maximum rotation be limited to 120 degrees
or less". This device limits the door rotation
by allowing the manufacture to control and set the rotation stop point.
It can easily and precise be controlled and set to a defined point within
a 100 to120 degrees range.
This device: protects the mailbox, extends the life of the mailbox,
controls the door rotation precisely to fully meet the requirements
and preferences of USPS-STD-7B 3.4. This device generally just
makes the mailbox work better and thereby a better product.
